“Of my favourite families of animals, Kangaroos are high on that list. I love the mob and watching the lives of Kangaroos, watching the caring mothers with their joeys. I love the gentleness of it all. I love the way Kangaroos are made for the fragile Australian landscapes and soils, big-foot perhaps but soft-footed indeed. I am also one of the very lucky people that have actually met Mr Boo and he is always in my thoughts, and what an educator he is. I should say this to all teachers and students out there, love your roo, and that is one of the best things you can do”.

"Mr Boo's Kangaroo Rangers is a wonderful educational initiative that provides children with an online opportunity to learn the facts about the kangaroo, a truly unique animal that is so important to the Australian environment. Mr Boo encourages children to help protect kangaroos now and into the future and to appreciate the integral role they play in the biodiversity of the Australian continent."

"We should feel privileged to have native wildlife in our back yards. Sadly though, they are not given the respect and protection they deserve and the majority of rescues I attend are due to human intervention. Kangaroos are close to my heart because they are such beautiful creatures and yet they are the most persecuted, maligned and exploited of all our native animals. They suffer immensely at the hands of humans - they are slaughtered for pet food killed by farmers, hit by motorists and become entangled in fencing. If more is not done to protect our kangaroos, future generations might have to visit a sanctuary to see one. This is why educating the next generation is so vitally important. We need to ensure the leaders of tomorrow understand the importance of our wildlife and the need to protect them. The Mr Boo program is aimed at helping achieve this and I strongly recommend that all schools incorporate it as part of the formal curriculum."

Wildlife Rescuer
"Outside of Australia, many will never have the experience of seeing a wild kangaroo in its natural habitat. But kangaroos are beloved worldwide, if from afar! We can only hope that the chance to see kangaroos is not lost for even Australians from senseless killing, habitat loss, and climate crisis threats. The Mr. Boo program is a great opportunity for children near and far from all over the world to learn more about these magnificent beings."
April Maurath Sommer
Wild Tree Foundation Executive & Legal Director, Walnut Creek, California
“The Wildlife Land Trust aims to support and champion private landowners that have the best interests of wildlife at heart and conserve habitats on their sanctuaries. Scott and Nikki (Founders of Red Box Wildlife Shelter and the Mr Boo Program) are brilliant examples of dedicated people who embody the program, working tirelessly to protect nature on their sanctuary through conservation, rehabilitating wildlife, and educating people about the value of our native species.”
Helen Church
Project Officer, Humane Society International Wildlife Land Trust
Unusually tense bushfires in parts of Australia in 2020 led me to Scott and Nikki Medwell at Redbox Wildlife Shelter and the world of kangaroos. Redbox Wildlife Shelter is a wonderful journey through the life of true champions for kangaroos. Nikki and Scott have dedicated their lives to the welfare of kangaroos. Their shelter and programs beautifully depict the incredible stories they have lived, the values they have learned, as well as the scary reality that kangaroos will disappear from their indigenous native land Australia if children aren’t educated.

Stop the culling. Continue the caring. Save our roos!

I do not understand why they destroy kangaroo homes when they have done nothing to us…

Would you like to help our kangaroos?

Wildlife shelters like Red Box Wildlife Shelter do not receive any Government funding and rely solely on the generous donations of people like you. Every dollar counts and goes directly to caring for orphaned joeys and other kangaroos which require protection and care.
